Our Application In The Industries

  • Aerospace: Space Applications and Aircraft Applications
  • Energy: Within the energy industry, FSW can be applied in many of the same methods that more traditional welding can be applied.
  • Maritime: Initially used in 1996 to make refrigeration unit doors for the fishing industry, Friction Stir Welding has spread to applications within the maritime industry up to and including shipbuilding itself.
  • Transit: FSW is most frequently applied to trains, wherein it is used to manufacture the metal plates that comprise the walls, ceilings, and floors of train cars as they are found in the UK, Japan, and Austria. It is also used to attack heat sinks to the electronics that operate trains.
  • 3C: Application in Computer, Communication and Consumer Electronics
  • Electric Vehicles: FSW can provide an unintrusive but strong weld to any joint that needs it. It can especially make welds that combine pieces of the frame, the chassis, the batteries and motors, and the fixtures on the inside of the vehicle.
